In the overwhelming majority of cases (>99.9%), the initial report is the same as the batch and summary reports. The only exceptions are cases where a response is removed for threatening or abusive language (e.g., when a student has directed slurs at the instructor’s race, gender or sexual orientation) or there is inaccurate instructor information.

So why call it an initial report if it’s most often the final report?

In addition to allowing changes for exceptional cases, this also indicates that more detailed reports are coming soon. With paper forms, it took ~6 weeks to process evaluations and generate reports.

The initial report allows instructors to see their evaluations 1-2 days after grades are released rather than waiting a few weeks for the batch and summary reports to be compiled.
