Survey Cordination

First Year Undergraduate Survey Content

  • SA & AIM First Year Undergrad Survey Content.xlsx

    • Reviewed categories for each survey in the spreadsheet

      • NSS - 4 months prior to semester start - fall census date

      • Fall Welcome - day after Labor Day - 2 weeks

      • FUNSS - holding off on administering until 2025

      • EoFY Survey - late March - early April

    • Shared Conceptual Areas

      • Evaluation is the most used

      • Belonging - 8 areas with almost the same wording, asking them several times in first year. Campus Culture Survey also asks about belonging.

      • Others include residence, connection

Group Discussion:

  • Would like to use these surveys to see the first year experience across time

  • WillVill project may be a proof of concept for this

  • Using the data to flag students who are at risk and for outreach

  • We have a wealth of information and are at a point where we can be intentional about when we collect it, how we use it

  • Data sharing has been an obstacle

    • AIM working on getting survey data to a point where it’s more shareable

      • longitudinal views of data

      • look at multiple collections of same information (e.g., belonging) so it can be pulled easily

      • get to a point where as data comes in, we can view data by various topics and create dashboards based on individual needs
