Updates and/or Announcements from the Group

Qualtrics updates

  • Steve worked with OIT to ensure cusurveys.colorado.edu will not go to spam for our CU users. Users can mark all emails from this domain as spam if they choose.

    • OIT email security updates

    • Student Affairs launched a survey and a lot of emails went to spam for students

    • If there are any concerns with specific emails, Steve Eles can help facilitate assistance with this issue

    • Avoid subject lines that tend to get marked as spam, e.g., Amazon, gift cards, call to action, !

    • OIEC tested it and didn’t seem to have a pattern when it goes to spam vs. inbox

  • Making progress on creating a Qualtrics environment for highly confidential data

Survey Group

  • Time available for presentations if anyone has projects they would like to make others in the group aware of, get feedback on, etc.

Survey Cordination

First Year Undergraduate Survey Content

  • SA & AIM First Year Undergrad Survey Content.xlsx

    • These were specific to surveys in the first year student population only

    • Items grouped by type of question for first year student surveys

      • Adding Sexual Misconduct and Bystander survey items

      • Many items in the evaluation category

  • For sharing data across units, will eventually have data repository and some software solutions for this (e.g., Snowflake, ThoughtSpot). In the interim, will share with OIT approved methods.

Working Group Evaluation Items Best Practices

  • Would we like to create a working group within our Survey Group to focus on best practices in evaluating a program, initiative, events on campus?

    • we are seeing these types of items being asked on an annual basis in some surveys

      • Is this tied to budget decision making?

  • The hope is to develop recommendations for groups across campus to refer to when they are looking for best practices to understand how their initiative/piece of work is working

    • Is it possible to collaborate on major initiatives across years? e.g., we don’t need to measure impact on first year experience every year. Perhaps every second or third yet. In interim years we could measure items focused on another topic of interest e.g., mental health

  • If the purpose of the survey is for outreach, it makes sense for this to be a campus-wide effort to intervene. If information is program-specific, it might make less sense to be largely collaborative

  • 3 types of items: perceptions of student experience (e.g., belongingness), evaluative, impact on the college

  • Putting decision on hold for now

  • For next time, think about: Is this worth our time?
