FCQ Comparison Tool Instructions
The FCQ Reporting Tool shows FCQ results for Boulder main campus and Continuing Education classes from fall 2020 to the present. This tool includes results for the core 16-item numerical question set. Please allow up to six weeks from the end of the semester for the FCQ Reporting Tool to be updated with the most recent semester data.
Individual reports are available to instructors via Campus Labs (http://colorado.campuslabs.com/faculty ) approximately two business days after semester grades have been posted and include additional results from an open-ended question and any custom questions that were requested.
About the FCQ Ratings
Students are asked 16 questions to evaluate the course and instructor on a five-point rating scale (1 - Hardly Ever, 2 - Occasionally, 3 - Sometimes, 4 - Frequently, 5 - Almost Always) plus a “Not applicable” option.
Instructions for the FCQ Reporting Tool
Begin by choosing your filters from the "Filters" tab by clicking on the "Go to Filters Page" button at the top of the page. Select any combination of filters from the 12 options provided: Instructor, Semester, Campus, School/College, Arts & Sciences Division, Department, Course Level, Class Size, Instruction Mode, Course, Section Type, Section Number.
Note: Filters default to “All” values. Clearing or resetting a filter returns to “All” values.
For instructor comparisons:
Begin by selecting the desired instructor from the "Instructor" filter. Selecting only the instructor name will show averages for all classes taught by the instructor across all available semesters. If you want to view an instructor's scores for a particular semester or class, use the other filters to fine-tune your results as needed.
For department comparisons:
Begin by selecting the desired department from the "Department" filter. Selecting only the department name will show averages for all classes taught within the department across all available semesters. You can fine-tune your results by selecting more filters, such as limiting results by course level, class size, section type, etc.
After setting your filters, click on the "View FCQ Comparison Data" button at the bottom of the "Filters" tab. This will apply the filters and take you to the "FCQ Comparison" tab to view the results. Depending on the number of filters used, it may take a little while for the page to load.
You can go back to the "Filters" tab to change your selections at any time. To clear all selections, click on the "Reset Filters" button next to the "View FCQ Comparison Data" button.

Why Does the FCQ Reporting Tool Only Include Results for Fall 2020 and Later?
By directive of the Provost’s office, spring and summer 2020 FCQ results are not available due to the switch to remote learning during Covid-19.
In fall 2020, CU Boulder switched to a new question set containing 16 quantitative items using a 5-point rating scale.
The pre-2020 FCQ instrument contained nine quantitative items that were different from those in the new question set. The previous instrument also used a different rating scale. Because the pre-2020 evaluations use different questions and a different rating scale, there is not a way to bridge the results between the FCQ results prior to 2020 and the results beginning with 2020 into a single reporting tool. The pre-2020 FCQ results should be viewed separately and can be found on the FCQ website (https://www.colorado.edu/fcq/boulder-fcq-results ).
